There is not much to remember when actually playing Craps. The basic game is easy to play it's the betting that is a little difficult to understand.
Let's look at the betting first. First, anyone at the craps table can place a wager on the outcome of the toss the betting is not restricted to the shooter. Second, while you don't have to throw the dice to wager you must have a wager if you want to throw the dice.
Next there are few things the casino will insist on to help make cheating difficult:
To make sure there is no switching of the dice or other tampering with them you must only handle them with one hand and the dice must be kept over the table in sight of the dealers at all times.
To ensure a 'true' (fair) roll casinos insist that you throw the dice across the table and off the wall on the far side.
The new shooter throws the dice for the first time (the come-out roll) and the result is one of three things:
The result is a 7 or 11 the shooter wins. Those who wagered on the shooter win, while those who wagered against the shooter lose.
The result is 2, 3, or 12 the shooter loses. Those who wagered on the shooter lose, those who wagered against the shooter win if the result is a 2, or 3 and tie if the result is a 12.
The result is any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) in which case you have a Point. The shooter continues to roll, if the shooter rolls the Point before rolling a Seven, you win. If the shooter rolls a Seven before the Point, you lose.
After a Point has been established the shooter will roll again and this will result in:
The next roll is 7 or 11, the shooter wins. Those who wagered on the shooter win, while those who wagered against the shooter lose.
The result is 2, 3, or 12 the shooter loses. Those who wagered on the shooter lose, those who wagered against the shooter win if the result is a 2, or 3 and tie if the result is a 12.
The result is any other number (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) in which case you have a Point for a Come bet (this may be a different Point than was established on the come-out roll). The shooter continues to roll, if the shooter rolls the Come Point before rolling a Seven, you win. If the shooter rolls a Seven before the Come Point, you lose.
That's all there is.
The shooter continues to roll as long as he/she is winning, or until they decide they don't want to, after which the dice are passed to the player on the shooters left.
